The Kleos Aglianico hails from DOC Paestum in Cilento, home to a major ancient Greek city and three surviving ancient Greek temples. Two very different vineyard sites contribute to the balance and texture of this wine - the first vineyard is right on the coast, overlooking the Tyrrhenian Sea, with incredibly sandy soils, the second further inland, at a higher altitude, with more clay soils. The wine is fermented in stainless steel, and aged for 8 months in 2 and 3 year old barrique.
Luigi Maffini's family planted the vineyards in the 1970s, but the winery wasn't established until 1996, when Luigi's dream to make wines from indigenous grapes with integrity and purity, from his family’s land, came to life. Luigi and his wife Raffaella tend the land organically, and together they run the winery and share the land with their two children and three dogs.
