Domaine Bernard Moreau is probably one of the best known domaines in Chassagne Montrachet, famous for their supremely pure and elegant wines. Bernard Moreau took over the cellar and vineyards at the tender age of 14, from his father. His sons, Alex and Benoit, now run the domaine. The vineyards are managed as naturally as possible - no herbicides or pesticides, and only organic fertilizers are used.
Aligote is thought to be the oldest of the Burgundian grape varieties, predating both Chardonnay and Pinot Noir which dominate today. The Bernard Moreau Aligote is hand harvested, and undergoes natural fermentation using indigenous yeasts. It is a textbook example of Aligote, showcasing bright and tart green apple flavours, a perfect aperitif, or match with seafood.
