Château Grand Village is the original Bordeaux home of the Guinaudeau family, better known as the producers of Château Lafleur in Pomerol. This charming Fronsac property is treated with the same expertise, care and attention as the grand Chateau Lafleur, and is the home of the Guinadeau’s extensive vine nursery, where they grow and tend an impressive collection of ‘Bouschet’ vines – the old Bordeaux clone of Cabernet Franc.
Only 9% of a normal crop of Chateau Grand Village was made in 2017. Sadly, a brutal frost in late April decimated a high proportion of the vines. While quantity is extremely low, quality is exceptional, and the wines are pure and seductive. 97% Merlot with 3% Cabernet Franc (the old Bouschet clone), the wine is mineral and aromatic, a very classy drop.
