In 2003, Alberto Tanzini and his brother bought the Roccapesta estate in southern Tuscany that contained the over 40-year-old vineyards that are supplying much of their wines’ grapes today. With the utmost respect for terroir, the environment and tradition, the almost 20 hectares has been converted to a sustainable winery producing award winning Morellino di Scansano.
Roccapesta is a blend of 96% Sangiovese and 4% Ciliegiolo, aged for 12 months in oak barrels and 12 months in bottle.
Roccapesta embodies all the characteristics of a great red. As the most representative product of this terroir and its seasons, every vintage is different from the others, with one thread: an intense nose with pepper and spices, a full structure rich of shades of taste. Promising a capacity to express more and more in the time, it is good for now, or to be left for aging.
