In 1987 a group of Swiss friends, who had been holidaying near Montepulciano for years and who loved the local wine, decided to buy a wine estate in the region. They were such enthusiasts for Cannetto’s Vino Nobile that they bought the property. They took on an Italian partner, the agronomist Ottorino de Angelis who has been in charge of the day-to-day management of the estate.
This wine is a blend of 90% Sangiovese, 5% Merlot and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon. The grapes are de-stemmed, soft pressed and subsequently fermented in stainless steel vats at a controlled temperature of 26°C with the addition of selected yeasts. The maceration lasts 18/20 days. Ageing takes place in 5 hl French barrels for 18 months, followed by at least 6 months of bottle ageing.
