From a tiny 0.8 hectare plot, this single vineyard Riesling is grown on sandy loam soils, on a gentle slope protected by forest on the outskirts of the village of Wachenheim. The grapes are harvested by hand, fermented in stainless steel, and left on the fine lees.
The Mosbacher family's roots as vintners in the village of Forst go back some 200 years, but the estate was founded in 1920, by Richard Mosbacher. Named after his father Georg, the curved 'M' on the label goes back to the very first bottles. The winery is now run by the third generation, by Sabine and her husband Jurgen.
